Source My Parts is committed to building authentic, long-term relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. We recognise the important role that First Nations businesses, employees, and cultural knowledge play in shaping our industry and contributing to sustainable outcomes.
Our Approach
Our approach is practical, measurable, and locally focused. We prioritise genuine consultation with Traditional Owners and regional stakeholders to ensure our actions are respectful, relevant, and effective.
Key Commitments
- Employment pathways: Create job opportunities, traineeships, and apprenticeships for First Nations people across NSW (Wetherill Park) and WA (Bayswater).
- Supply opportunities: Increase procurement from Indigenous businesses by including them in sourcing and tender processes.
- Cultural respect & awareness: Deliver cultural awareness training, and recognise Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
- Local collaboration: Partner with community organisations, RTOs, and employment services to strengthen connections.
- Transparency & targets: Set, track, and report on all commitments and outcomes.
Programs & Initiatives
- Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP): Formalising commitments and driving continuous improvement.
- Traineeships: Provide structured entry points for Indigenous workers, supported by mentoring and development.
- Work experience & school engagement: Offer placements and industry visits for students to inspire future career pathways.
- Local supplier engagement: Identify and onboard Indigenous businesses to supply goods and services to Source My Parts.
Measurable Outcomes
- Number of Indigenous employees, apprentices, and trainees.
- Value and number of contracts awarded to Indigenous suppliers.
- Participation rates in cultural awareness training.
- Retention and progression of Indigenous staff within Source My Parts.
Community Engagement
We take a respectful and collaborative approach to engagement. It starts by listening, connecting with Traditional Owners and Indigenous representatives to understand local priorities, protocols, and opportunities for partnership.
